Jarvis Vacates Misfits Welterweight Title After 735 Days – But Disputes the Narrative
After reigning as Misfits Boxing Welterweight Champion for 735 days, Jarvis Khattri has officially vacated the title, according to Misfits president Mams Taylor. However, the announcement has sparked controversy after Jarvis responded publicly, criticizing how the decision, and the messaging, was handled.
Misfits’ Statement
Mams Taylor took to social media to declare that Jarvis had “retired the belt,” signaling the end of his lengthy championship reign. No formal press release, interview, or collaborative content accompanied the announcement. just a straightforward statement on X Space, which fans and fighters initially assumed was mutual.
Jarvis Responds on X (Twitter)
Jarvis quickly refuted that assumption with a lengthy statement of his own, posted on X (Twitter). Here’s a breakdown of his response:
“Very frustrating that this how Misfits have gone about this, I didn’t receive a call or text, just a tweet about me retiring the belt.”
Jarvis claims that not only was he not directly informed, but that the decision was made and announced without his input, catching him off guard.
He went on to say:
“Start of this year I was ready to fight but dates kept being pushed and Misfits kept asking me to fight for lower fee than in my contract. Fast forward I got unbanned from Fortnite, started a new channel with Frazier and many doors opened up. Now they ask me to fight for 40% lower than in my contract.”
According to Jarvis, he had remained committed to boxing earlier this year, but frequent delays and repeated lowball offers from Misfits created growing tension. After focusing on his renewed gaming career and business opportunities — including a new channel with brother Frazier (Kay) — Jarvis says Misfits returned with an offer 40% lower than originally agreed, which he declined.
He added:
“I love boxing but over the past few months a lot has changed and my focus has shifted elsewhere. If I want to fight again I will, but being forced to make this statement now is pretty gay. Misfits and I could have done something cool together about retiring the belt but now they’ve taken that opportunity.”
While Jarvis admits his focus has shifted away from boxing for now, he didn’t rule out a return, but expressed disappointment that the situation wasn’t handled with more mutual respect or creative collaboration.
