Tommy Fury vs. Eddie Hall On 13th June – Can He Retain His Misfits P4P #1 Ranking?

Misfits boxing has thrown up some intriguing matches over the last few years, but names like Tommy Fury and Jake Paul have helped validate it as a highly popular and entertaining niche within the broader boxing market.

It’s fascinating to watch how this market evolves with different names, misfits, YouTubers, and actual professional fighters all rotating in this merry-go-round of peculiar yet engaging fights. The latest big fight we now have confirmed in the calendar is between P4P #1-ranked Misfits boxer Tommy Fury and the former world’s strongest man, Eddie Hall. So, how does this one pan out? Let’s dive in and take a look.

The Power Of The Socials

The success of this bout will be determined by how well it is promoted online. Tommy Fury and Eddie Hall both have millions of followers across their social media platforms, and while the fight is likely to sell out the AO Arena this summer, the success of the bout will be measured by the engagement and hysteria it generates online.

Digital media is the new route for many of these fighters; they’ve made their name on social media, cultivated their fanbase via sites like YouTube, and partnered with some of the biggest digital retailers to generate income.

We’ve seen how the broader boxing world has adapted to this, too. Streaming companies now dominate the market, with Top Rank, Matchroom, and Queensberry all under the same streaming giant.

Digital payment options have become the norm in many areas of boxing betting, with fans now using digital assets to place the bulk of their bets. Those who bet on boxing at Bovada have seen how this market has unfolded since the start of the 2020s; the actual betting market itself has not changed.

You can still access outright, in-play markets such as group round betting, and see what the bookmakers think about the latest odds – but the integration of cryptocurrency places a contemporary spin on this popular, conventional boxing betting market.

Many believe that crypto casinos are the future of the gambling market, so it’s not a surprise to see boxing betting ideas to ride the slipstream of this momentum, and many providers are looking to dip their toes into both worlds.

Will A Win Pave The Way For A Paul Rematch?

Tommy Fury is considered the number one fighter in the Misfits world. While some might find it slightly unfair given that he is one of the few actual professionals who participates, it was a win over Jake Paul back in 2023 that catapulted him to the top of the P4P Misfits rankings.

Jake Paul has options, and after making a staggering amount of money getting flattened by Anthony Joshua in a fight where he was completely out of his depth, as many predicted before the fight took place, there are some who believe that Jake will likely focus on a professional belt or shift his focus toward his burgeoning promotional company.

Tommy should outbox Hall easily, given the frame. If it goes past one or two rounds, Tommy is going to have the cardio and movement to cruise to victory. It is nowhere near as interesting as a fight against Darren Till or a rematch with Jake Paul. Some have said that, despite Hall’s size, he is not a legitimate boxer and will pose minimal threat to Fury once the fight gets out of the first round.

If the money is there, we could see a Paul vs. Fury rematch, because it makes sense for Jake. Every legitimate professional he has faced has beaten him, and he can’t use this as a springboard to mount a legitimate world title challenge without correcting these results.

If he’s going to avenge any loss, it’s going to be the Fury one, and highly unlikely to be the AJ one. Nobody doubts his bravery after the Joshua fight, but he’s not going to beat any of the top names at cruiserweight.

Is The Criticism Fair?

Some have criticized Tommy Fury for these fights, but he is making more money than most professional boxers in his weight class and taking far less risk. If anyone says they wouldn’t do the same, they’re being disingenuous.

This fight doesn’t really do much to cement Tommy’s place at the top of the ranking – he’s going to be there for a while unless KSI can get a few notable wins under his belt, or he can avenge his loss to Tommy at some stage.

As with so many Misfits fights, it’s the concept of the fight that has so many intrigued, and it is going to be intriguing for a round or two. However, the fight is likely to start with an electric atmosphere. Tommy’s superior boxing skill and lateral movement eventually tire Eddie out, and a late stoppage isn’t off the cards. However, Tommy cruising to a points win feels like a nailed-on outcome at this point.
